Late goal helps Lady Bears finish in draw at Hinds

After a full week off from play, the Lady Bears got back into the swing of things Friday hoping to get over last week's unfortunate loss to Gulf Coast. And despite playing a good brand of soccer, it wasn't quite enough at Hinds as the match ended in a tie.

"I don't think that the scoreline really reflects on how well we actually played," Southwest head coach Nicole Cooper said. "We possessed the ball really well. There was a lot of confidence from our back line. We just couldn't find the back of the net."

The Lady Bears (6-1-3, 2-1-2 MACCC) battled with the Eagles early on and all of the first half consisted of both teams jockeying for position.

Unfortunately, Hinds got into rhythm first, scoring a goal in the 52nd minute putting Southwest down 1-0.

The Lady Bears continued to fight and their tenacity paid off in the 79th minute as Ellyana Holman put one in from distance, tying the match at 1.

Southwest tried to keep the momentum going but was unable to score another goal as the match ended in a draw.

The Lady Bears return home Tuesday to host Holmes at 5 p.m.
