Box Score Rebounding from a tough loss against Meridian on Tuesday, the Lady Bears played a better brand of soccer Friday at No. 3 Northwest but couldn't get the consistency they needed, falling 4-1 to the Rangers.
 
"They are the defending national champions and a very, very good program," Southwest head coach Nicole Cooper said. "I wasn't upset with our overall performance. It was one of our overall better performances against a nationally-ranked opponent."
 
The Lady Bears (6-6-3, 2-6-2 MACCC) fell behind in the 11^th minute as the Rangers got their offense established early. The score, unfortunately, built momentum for the hosts as they scored two additional goals over the next 7:00 of play putting Southwest down 3-0.
 
That score stayed true throughout the remainder of the first half. The Lady Bears got on the board in the 57^th minute when Nicole Galvan scored on an Evie Peet goal making it a 3-1 game.
 
But Northwest added one more in the 70th minute making the score the eventual final.
 
Southwest returns home Tuesday to host Pearl River at 5 p.m. in the season finale.
