Adrien Collier racks up ten saves against #1 Northwest

On Friday, September 18th, Southwest Women's Soccer hosted the #1 ranked Northwest Rangers for their first home conference game of the season.

With a tall task ahead of them, the Lady Bears came out confident against the Rangers.

Addison Champagne picked up 4 saves for Southwest before she left the game in the 15th minute with an injury.

With no other goalies on the roster, the Lady Bears turned to sophomore defender Adrien Collier.

Collier took the challenge head on with zero goalkeeping experience, a pink pinnie, and a too small pair of gloves.

Collier began to save shot after shot against the #1 Rangers.

With 12 corners taken and 14 shots on goal, Northwest only scored twice while Collier amassed 10 saves against the top team in the country, an impressive feat for any goalie let alone an emergency goalie with no experience.

Down 0-2, leading Lady Bear goal scorer Nicole Galvan scored on a free kick to cut the Ranger lead down to 1-2.

Galvan broke the Southwest all-time goals scored record against Pearl River on Wednesday, September 15th when she scored her 20th career goal, and she now sits at 21.

Southwest continued to fight hard but ultimately fell 1-2 to #1 Northwest.

The Lady Bears (3-4-1, 0-2*conference) will look to bounce back on Tuesday, September 22nd on the road against Meridian.
