Lady Bears wrap 2025 campaign with tie against No. 14 Pearl River

Box Score The Lady Bears went into Tuesday's season finale at home against No. 14 Pearl River hoping to build momentum heading into the offseason.

And after a tough 90:00 against a very good Wildcat team, the Lady Bears walked away with a 2-2 draw.

"We knew that we were already out of the playoffs, so I told the girls 'what do we have to lose,'" Southwest head coach Nicole Cooper said. "Let's come out, play good soccer and get a result in our favor. Honestly, we had so many chances and opportunities, we could have put a couple more away."

The Lady Bears (6-6-4, 2-6-3 MACCC) fell behind in the 19th minute as the Wildcats struck first. The score, unfortunately, pushed the momentum clearly on the visiting side and Pearl River used it to its advantage, adding a goal less than 2:00 later putting Southwest down 2-0.

The Lady Bears continued to fight and got on the board in the 35th minute when Jada Houston got a pass from Tiaona Frick before scoring, making it a 2-1 game.

Deep in the second half, the Lady Bears kept pushing for the equalizer and they got it in the 79th minute on a shot from Evie Peet from about 25 yards out following a pass from Ellyana Holman.

As both teams continued to battle, the Lady Bears could not get the go-ahead goal as the match ended in a draw.
