Lady Bears unable to keep up with host Itawamba

Box Score In the longest road trip of the year, the Lady Bears wanted to continue to build their resume towards a postseason birth by trying to get a win at Itawamba. But Southwest had difficulty playing its brand of soccer, Friday, as the Lady Bears endured an unfortunate 3-0 setback against the Lady Indians.

"I don't think that we played our best soccer today," Southwest head coach Nicole Cooper said. "We're still struggling a little bit offensively. We had maybe double to amount of shots as them (Itawamba) and nothing was super challenging or dangerous for the keeper."

The Lady Bears (6-3-3, 2-3-2 MACCC) tried to set the tone early but Itawamba struck first in the 20th minute with a lengthy goal putting the visitors down 1-0.

The deficit, unfortunately, grew to 2-0 8:00 later following another goal by the Lady Indians.

Southwest continued to compete but couldn't get into rhythm as Itawamba added one more score in the 71st minute.

The Lady Bears return home Tuesday to host No. 5 Jones at 5 p.m.
