Following their shortest road trip of the regular season, the Lady Bears were hoping to correct mistakes from the previous match and put together a winning formula Friday at Co-Lin. But the Lady Wolves got off to a strong start and held on in the end, handing a short-handed Southwest team a 3-1 loss.
"(We were) missing a couple (of girls) due to injuries," Southwest head coach Nicole Cooper said. "We just have to continue working on the things that we talk about at practice. They have to translate to our play."
The Lady Bears (2-8, 0-5) tried to set the tone early, but it was the Lady Wolves who struck first as they pushed a goal across in the 18
th minute putting Southwest down 1-0. The deficit grew to 2-0 four minutes later following a second Co-Lin goal.
That score stayed true until the 78
th minute when Caroline Barcelona got a pass from Maylee McCleod before sending the ball past the Lady Wolves keeper cutting Co-Lin's lead in half at 2-1.
However, the Lady Wolves got into rhythm about a minute later and pushed their third goal across making the score the eventual final.
The Lady Bears conclude their road trip on Tuesday with a 5 p.m. match against Pearl River.
