Lady Bears, Co-Lin tie 3-3 in double overtime

The Southwest Lady Bears battled host Co-Lin to a 3-3 double overtime tie Tuesday night in Wesson. It was the third straight overtime match for the Lady Bears and the second consecutive to end deadlocked after two overtimes.
 
The tie left the Lady Bears at 2-9-2 overall (1-4-1 in the MACJC South) while Co-Lin moved to 1-8-1and 0-4-1.
 
The Lady Bears took an early 1-0 lead on Taylor Laurent's unassisted goal at 5:38 of the match. An "own goal" by the Lady Bears gave Co-Lin a goal and knotted things at 1-1 at 8:54.
 
Assisted by Jessica Malloy, Laurent put the Lady Bears up 2-1 at 10:03 with her second goal of the night. A 40-yard free kick goal by Kaitlyn Cooper at 27:31 then gave the Lady Bears a 3-1 advantage at halftime.
 
The two-goal lead was not enough, however, as Co-Lin picked up goals at 56:18 and 85:15 to tie the match at 3-3.
 
Two 10:00 overtimes were not enough to resolve matters and the teams left the field with the tie.
 
Southwest keeper Kendyl Adam had eight saves in the match.
 
The Lady Bears travel to Jones County Friday night for their next match. Action is set to get underway at 5:00 in Ellisville.
