Lady Bears pick up 2-0 win at Itawamba

The Southwest Lady Bears picked up their first win of the MACJC soccer season Tuesday with a 2-0 victory over the Itawamba Lady Indians in Fulton. The win moved the Lady Bears to 1-4 on the season while Itawamba dropped to 1-3.

The Lady Bears took a 1-0 lead at 24:00 of the first half when goalkeeper Devin Cassett punted the ball and had it bounce over the Itawamba back line. Marissa Hakes then took a touch on the bounce, shot and scored.

Nicole Daigle gave the Lady Bears their final goal at 75:00. After Hakes played the ball to Daigle on the short corner, Daigle then dribbled past three Itawamba players and scored on a shot from the corner of the 18.

Going the full 90:00, Cassett had 17 saves in picking up the shutout win.

The Lady Bears return home for their next match as they host arch-rival Co-Lin Friday at 2:00.
