Lady Bears unable to get past No. 7 Jones

Box Score The Southwest Lady Bears entered Tuesday's home match against No. 7 Jones hoping to get over last week's rough outings. And despite playing hard, the Lady Bears couldn't quite get the consistency they needed, falling 5-1 to the Bobcats.

"It is often hard to defend a creative attack, and they are creative," Southwest head coach Nicole Cooper said of Jones. "We have to be more disciplined on corners but on the other side we had opportunities for goals and we should have put a couple away."

The Lady Bears (6-4-3, 2-4-2 MACCC) came out trying to set the tone, but it was the visiting Bobcats who scored first with a goal in the 20th minute putting Southwest down 1-0.

Unfortunately, it started a rally for the visitors who scored two additional goals over the next 8:00 of play putting Southwest down 3-0.

Jones scored another two goals in the early stages of the second half before Southwest got on the board via a goal from Mia Encinia on a pass from Evie Peet.

Southwest looked to capitalize on the momentum but was unable to as Jones claimed the win.

The Lady Bears will be back in action on Tuesday at 5 p.m. hosting Meridian.
