The momentum built from Saturday's win over South Georgia State, unfortunately, ran out for the Lady Bears on Sunday as they lost a 1-0 lead in the second half before falling 4-1 to Georgia Military College in Milledgeville, GA.
"I think part of it might have been playing back-to-back days, being a little heavy on the legs," Southwest head coach Nicole Cooper said. "We were able to hang up until they scored. We just have to be more consistent and not make the little mistakes."
The Lady Bears (1-1) displayed strong defense in the first half as Kiera Schwartz carried over her strong play from the day before holding the Lady Bulldogs scoreless through the first 45:00 of play.
Southwest broke the scoreless streak in the 54
th minute when Maylee McLeod found Tristan Byrd who sent the ball into the goal putting the Lady Bears up 1-0.
However, not long afterward, the Lady Bears lost the momentum and could not recover. The Lady Bulldogs rallied to score four-consecutive goals to secure the win.
The Lady Bears will be back in action on Wednesday as they visit the Belhaven Blazers.
