Despite improved play in the second half of Tuesday's home conference contest against top-ranked Northwest, the Lady Bears were unable to close the deal in the end, falling to the Lady Rangers 3-0.
"Our biggest thing from the first half to the second half was being more consistent," Southwest head coach Nicole Cooper said. "Doing things right that we know that we can execute. Our girls didn't give up. We are still trying to accomplish things."
The Lady Bears (5-8-2, 2-7 MACCC) held the Lady Rangers in check for the first 10:00 of the match but lost containment on a surge which resulted in a goal for the visitors putting Southwest down 1-0 in the 11
th minute.
Southwest pushed ahead and tried to get the equalizer but unfortunately fell into a 2-0 hole in the 28
th minute when Northwest pushed a second goal in.
The Lady Rangers added their third with 5:30 left in the half.
Even though they were down, the Lady Bears kept pushing. They made some adjustments at halftime and improved their play in the second half displaying a more aggressive style. It resulted in more shots on goal but unfortunately, they couldn't get one past the Northwest keeper.
The Lady Bears close out the road portion of their season on Friday when they visit East Central at 5 p.m.
