Wulff, Folse goals not enough as Lady Bears fall to Meridian, 4-2

Monday afternoon was a tough day on the pitch for the Lady Bears as they fell to the visiting Meridian Lady Eagles 4-2 in MACCC South Division soccer action.

Meridian (2-5, 2-3) held a 2-0 lead at the end of the first 45:00 of play.

At 57:51, Juana Wulff worked hard to take the ball away, cut one defender, opened up and found the back of the net on a chip shot to bring the Lady Bears to within 2-1.

However, a goal on a penalty kick at 68:36 gave Meridian another two-goal margin at 3-1.

Trailing 4-2, the Lady Bears (3-5, 2-3) scored their final goal at 73:45 when Renee Harris cleared the ball into space where Chloe Folse ran on to hit a volley over the Meridian keeper's fingertips.

The Lady Bears return to action on April 29 in Wesson when they pay a visit to South Division-foe Co-Lin. The match is scheduled for a 2:00 start.
