Lady Bears drop another close one

It was yet another loss for the Lady Bears Friday afternoon as the visiting Lady Bulldogs of Holmes left Summit with a 2-1 win.

Goals from Kendal Walsh (21:50 and 47:21) gave Holmes (9-1) a 2-0 lead. The Lady Bears (2-10) avoided the shutout at 83:50 when Josselyn Hernandez scored with an assist from Taylor Laurent.

Despite the loss, Lady Bears' head coach Bee Casey said, "I'm proud of the way the players were able to step up and deal with a few injuries that happened during the game. Overall, we continue to improve every game even though we might not win on the field."

"We're growing and experiencing a higher level of soccer," Casey went on, "and we're competing. I think that's the biggest thing for us this season."

The Lady Bears return to play on October 4 when they host the 11^th-ranked Jones County Lady Bobcats. Action is set to get underway at 2:00.
