Lady Bears fall in double OT at Itawamba

Morgan Dennis scored with 1:25 left in the second overtime to give the host Itawamba Lady Indians a 2-1 win over the Lady Bears Saturday afternoon in non-division action in Fulton.
 
After a scoreless first half, the Lady Bears (2-9) took a 1-0 lead in the 46th minute when Nohemy Giraldo received a pass from Morgan Moak outside the 18. Giraldo then took a nice touch and shot it into the upper 90.
 
The lead held up until the 54th minute when a Hope Burton goal tied the game at 1-1.
 
The teams then battled the rest of the second half and through the first 10:00 overtime with no score before Dennis got the win for the Lady Indians (3-4-2).
 
Keeper Jennifer Solis had six saves in goal for the Lady Bears.
 
Head coach Bee Casey said the Lady Bears "fought hard for 119 minutes (and) we controlled the ball 80% of the time." But, she said her team "struggled to get the ball in the back of the net." 
 
"The game was a growing time for us," Casey continued. "We look forward to a week of training before we hit the pitch next Friday." The Lady Bears play host to the Holmes Lady Bulldogs on Friday, September 30, at 2:00, for their final non-division game of the season.
