Lady Bears defeat Co-Lin, 3-1, in Wesson

A pair of Nohemy Giraldo goals and Brooke Fritts's late score off a penalty kick propelled the Lady Bears to a big 3-1 MACJC South Division win over arch-rival Co-Lin Friday night in Wesson.
 
Giraldo gave the Lady Bears (2-6, 1-4 South) a 1-0 halftime lead when she took a pass from Brinkley Gallant and, shooting from 40 yards out, sent the ball just inside the right corner of the goal at the 33:00 mark.
 
The Lady Bears' lead held until a goal by Co-Lin's (0-9, 0-5) McKenzi Turpin knotted the game at 1-1 at the 52:16 mark.
 
Giraldo's unassisted goal at 64:10 put the Lady Bears back on top to stay, 2-1. Fritts iced the game when she scored on a penalty kick at 88:27 of the game.
 
"The ladies improved tonight with the win over Co-Lin," said Lady Bears head coach Bee Casey. "The first of (South Division play) is done; the real test begins now. We are driven and mentally ready. The players are excited to hit the road next week."
 
The Lady Bears return to action on September 20 when they visit the East Central Lady Warriors for a 5:00 non-division matchup.
