Lady Bears drop South Division match in Meridian

The Southwest Lady Bears took an early 1-0 lead Friday afternoon, but were unable to sustain the advantage as they dropped a 5-2 MACJC South Division soccer decision to host Meridian.

The loss dropped the Lady Bears to 1-5 overall (1-2 South) while the Lady Eagles moved to 2-3-1 and 1-2.

Morgan Foster, with an assist from Brinkley Gallant, scored at 2:30 of the game to put the Lady Bears on top 1-0. Meridian's Effie Morrison scored at 20:00 to tie the match at 1-1.

Trailing 3-1, Kaitlyn Cooper scored for the Lady Bears on a penalty kick at 44:00, but the rest of the day belonged to the Lady Eagles.

The Lady Bears return to action on September 16 when they face the Pearl River Lady Wildcats in Poplarville. The South Division match is scheduled for a 5:00 start.
