Southwest Mississippi's Women's Basketball played the Holmes Community College Bulldogs on Monday, February 2nd in a 55-47 home win for the Lady Bears.

Things started slow for the Lady Bears as they found themselves down 2-13 in the first 8 minutes of the game.

A quick timeout by Head Coach Brent Harris turned things around as Southwest went on a 10-0 run into the second quarter cutting the lead down to 1 with a 12-13 score line with 8:00 left in the half.

The Lady Bears would continue to control the second quarter taking the lead with 3:32 remaining and taking a 25-18 lead into the break, closing the half with a Gracie Miller three pointer.

Picking up where she left off, Miller scored a corner 3 only 16 seconds into the second half helping the Lady Bears grow their lead.

After a few lead changes, the game was tied 37-37 at the end of the third quarter.

Once again, Gracie Miller opened the fourth quarter with another three-pointer to give Southwest the lead.

After retaking the lead with 8:50 remaining in the game, the Lady Bears never gave it back going on an 11-0 run to start the fourth taking a 48-37 lead.

A final three pointer from Gracie Miller with 1:20 left would ice the game for the Lady Bears leading to a 55-47 victory over the Bulldogs.

Gracie Miller led the scoring with 14 points on 4 three-pointers. Shanell Celestine followed close behind with 10 points of her own.

"Just proud. Proud of us that we fought through some tough situations and came back from behind early," said Coach Brent Harris, "It was tough and we kinda had to answer the call, answer the bell a little bit. So, I'm proud of that."

The Lady Bears (6-12, 2-3*conference) travel to Fulton on Thursday, February 5th to play Itawamba Community College for a chance to even out their conference record to 3-3.
