Lady Bears play last road game of the season

Southwest Mississippi Women's Basketball traveled to Meridian on Thursday, February 26th to take on the Meridian Community College Eagles in a 45-65 loss for the Lady Bears.

The first quarter was a slow one that opened up with 4 straight Mercedes Dorsey points for the Lady Bears to give them a 4-1 lead early.

A last second Meridian bucket brought the score to 9-7 to end the first with Southwest leading.

The Eagles stole the lead at the start of the second quarter and would never give it back.

Southwest only scored 6 points in the second that left them trailing 15-24 at the half.

Gracie Miller opened up the scoring in the second half but the Eagles never slowed down.

Despite a 6-0 run near the end of the third, the Lady Bears found themselves down 30-42 going into the final quarter.

The offensive struggle continued into the fourth as Southwest could not keep up with Meridian and would go on to lose 45-65 in the final road game of the season.

Keyona Royal led the team with 9 points. Mercedes Dorsey and Mady Smith each had 6 points.

The Lady Bears (7-19) (3-10*conference) will play their final home game on Monday, March 2nd versus Jones Community College.
