Box Score Southwest Mississippi Women's Basketball played the Northwest Rangers at home on February 16th in a 45-59 loss.

The Lady Bears took charge early in the first quarter getting up to a quick 17-10 lead with the help of a three pointer and 7 first quarter points from Mady Smith.

A last second bucket let the Rangers bring it back to a 17-13 score at the end of the first with Southwest in the lead.

An unfortunately slow second quarter from the Lady Bears saw only 2 points scored in the form of two Gracie Miller free throws.

This led to a half time score of 19-30 in favor of Northwest.

Southwest still struggled offensively into the third quarter only scoring 8 points with 6 of them coming from Kayla Arterberry leaving the Lady Bears trailing 27-47 going into the fourth.

A Ranger bucket put Southwest down by 22 early into the final quarter.

Then, the Lady Bears went on an 18-2 run in the next six minutes of play to close the Northwest lead down to 6 points.

A Gracie Miller three pointer started the run and Miller had 7 points in that stretch. Mercedes Dorsey also contributed 6 points to the run herself.

Once the run ended, the Lady Bears unfortunately lost steam as the Rangers began to find it and the game would eventually end in a 45-59 Southwest loss.

Kayla Arterberry led the team with 14 points. Gracie Miller was just behind her with 13 points.

The Lady Bears (7-16, 3-7*conference) are on the road Thursday, February 19th taking on Co-Lin.
