The Lady Bears entered Monday's home contest against the Coahoma, hoping to right the ship against a tough Lady Tigers team. But inconsistent play and a good night shooting the ball from the visitors proved to be too much as Southwest fell 61-58. 
 
The Lady Bears (12-9, 2-6 MACCC) got off to a positive start, getting a pair of baskets from Moosie Walls, who helped build a 7-2 lead for Southwest.
 
But Coahoma began to rally and grabbed the lead putting Southwest down 16-13 at the end of the first quarter.
 
A little more than halfway through the second quarter, back-to-back 3-pointers from Walls and Mady Smith pulled the Lady Bears within one at 20-19.
 
Southwest trailed 27-24 at the half.
 
Early in the third quarter, Southwest struggled as Coahoma went on another run. The deficit grew by as much as nine for Southwest but the Lady Bears battled back later in the quarter thanks to stellar play from Kara Beth Addison who scored seven of Southwest's 10 points on a 10-2 run helping the hosts not only narrow the gap but pull even at 42 at the end of the third quarter.
 
Addison scored the first Southwest points of the fourth quarter giving the Lady Bears a 44-43 lead but it did not last long as the Lady Tigers took it right back during the ensuing possession.
 
Even though Coahoma held the lead over the next several minutes of play, Southwest stayed within striking distance.
 
A late rally consisting of an Addison three-point play followed by a steal from Mookie Lampley on the inbounds which led to a quick Gracie Miller layup pulled Southwest to within one at 57-56 with 2:02 to go. But Southwest couldn't keep the rally going in the end as Coahoma took the win.
 
Addison led Southwest with 23 points while Walls posted 11.
 
The Lady Bears are back on the road Thursday visiting East Central at 5:30 p.m.
