Lady Bears overcome by Panola

The Lady Bears made the long trip to Carthage, TX, Saturday, but came home empty handed as they fell to the homestanding Panola College Fillies by the score of 65-46.

The Fillies took control of the game early, storming out to a 14-0 lead in the 1st quarter. The Lady Bears (2-4) got on the board on a Talana Bond free throw with under a 1:00 on the clock and trailed 16-1 going into the second quarter.

A Mady Smith bucket with 5:30 on the second-quarter clock cut the Lady Bears' deficit to 20-9. Less than 2:00 later, however, the host Fillies moved out to their largest lead at 27-11 with 3:08 before the end of the half. They then went on to hold a 31-16 advantage at the intermission.

The Fillies maintained the status quo in the second half and led 47-28 at the end of the 3rd quarter.

In the 4th quarter, the hosts took their biggest lead, 61-35, before going on to secure the 19-point victory.

Lacy Buchanan topped the Lady Bears offense with 11 points. She and her teammates combined to go 6-11 at the free throw line.

After taking time off for the Thanksgiving holiday, the Lady Bears return to action on December 4 when they travel to Moorhead to face Mississippi Delta. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30.
