The men's and women's tennis teams posted strong outings Friday, picking up wins against visiting Northeast Mississippi. 
 
Both teams posted scores of 6-3. Tennis head coach Joyce Mabry was proud of her teams' efforts.
 
"Fierce and exciting competition was evident on each court," she said. "I am proud of the players' determination and grit as they fought for every point.  Their strong work ethics in practice continued to carry over to the matches."
 
On the women's side in doubles play, the #1 doubles team of Larina Anderson and Mary Elizabeth Kuntz won 8-5 while the #2 doubles team of Emma Carruth and Sophie Tompkins followed suit, winning their match 9-7.
 
In singles play, #1 singles Anderson won 6-0, 6-3, #2 singles Kuntz won 6-3, 6-4, #3 singles Carruth won 6-0, 6-0 and #4 singles Tompkins won 6-3, 6-1. #5 singles Elise Gillissie fell 3-6, 4-6. 
 
 On the men's side, the #1 doubles team of J.P. Johnson and Phillip Chandler won 8-0 while the #2 doubles team of Alex Velasquez and Jackson Stanford claimed an 8-2 victory and the #3 team of Jacob Fairley and Luke Sowell won 8-3.
 
In singles play, #1 singles Chandler won 6-0, 6-0, #2 singles Johnson won 2-6, 6-4, 6-2, #3 Asingles Stanford fell 2-6, 6-7 (4-7), #4 singles Velasquez won 6-4, 4-6,10-8, #5 singles Fairley lost 4-6, 5-7 and #6 singles Sowell lost 4-6, 2-6. 
 
Next up, both teams will host Itawamba Friday at 2 p.m.
