Host Gulf Coast defeats Lady Bears

The host Mississippi Gulf Coast Lady Bulldogs scored a pair of early goals Friday night in Perkinston and went on to defeat the Lady Bears by a score of 6-1.

Paris Payne's two scores put the hosts on top 2-0 in the first 4:39 of the game. They then took a 5-1 lead at halftime.

The Lady Bears (0-5, 0-2 South) avoided the shutout when sophomore Auset Gibbs scored on a corner kick with 18:31 left in the first half.

Gulf Coast moved to 2-2, 2-1 with the win.

The Lady Bears return to action on September 19 when they visit the Pearl River Lady Wildcats for a 5:00 South Division contest.
