Kaskaskia prevails 2-0 over the Bears in a pitcher's duel

Hits were hard come by Sunday afternoon as the visiting Kaskaskia College Blue Devils defeated the Southwest Bears 2-0. The teams combined to record on five hits in the game.
 
The game was deadlocked 0-0 until the top of the sixth inning. Using two walks, two hit batters and a wild pitch, the Blue Devils pushed two runs across the plate.  The Bears had a chance to score in the bottom of the inning, loading the bases with two outs, but were unable to do so.
 
Cliff Hurst (Clinton, LA (Centreville Academy) took the loss on the mound for the Bears. He gave up both runs despite allowing only two hits and striking out two in six innings of work. He walked five batters and hit two.  Ross Buckley had a double for the Bears while Dylan Spiers and Steven Williams also hit safely.
 
The Bears look to get back into the win column Wednesday when they host Coahoma Community College. Game one of the twinbill is set for a 2:00 first pitch.
