Lady Bears ease by Co-Lin, 2-1, in Wesson

A pair of Nicole Daigle goals propelled the Southwest Lady Bears to a 2-1 MACJC South Division soccer win over arch-rival Co-Lin Tuesday afternoon in Wesson.

Daigle scored her first goal only 3:00 into the game when she took a pass from Devin Cassett and hit a dinger off the goal post at the upper 90. That proved to be the only goal of the first half as the Lady Bears (3-10, 2-4 South) held a 1-0 lead at the break.

The score remained the same until 67:00 when Daigle picked up her second goal on a free kick to put the Lady Bears up 2-0. Co-Lin (0-13, 0-6) avoided the shutout when Hannah Linnell scored with less than 1:00 remaining in the match.

Southwest keeper Hayley Allen saved five of six Co-Lin shots on goal.

The Lady Bears go back on the road Friday as they travel to Poplarville to take on the Pearl River Lady Wildcats in a 2:00 South Division contest.
