Southwest Women's Tennis receives invite to National Tournament

Southwest Women's Tennis will head to Sumter, South Carolina for the 2026 NJCAA Division II Women's Tennis Championship on May 2-6 at the Palmetto Tennis Center.

Women's Tennis finished 9-10 in the regular season going 3-6 in conference.

The women's team went into the Region 23 Championships as the #7 seed and faced off against Co-Lin in the first round of the tournament.

The Lady Bears are led by Sophomores Martina Troncoso and Anna Comeaux. Madelyn Powell, Anna Polk, Paula Tornos, Kayla Anderson, and Kai Jenkins are freshmen that make up the rest of the team.

Martina Troncoso and Paula Tornos are the foremost doubles partners and will lead the charge for Lady Bears at the national tournament in South Carolina.

"For me, my teammates are like my family here. They mean a lot and they are always supporting me," said Paula Tornos, "the team is always motivating you in the games or if you are having a bad day. You know that they are always there."

The Lady Bears are led by coaches Dean and Robin Clower and assistant coaches Alex Velasquez and Marcos Coves.
