Lady Bears fight hard before falling to visiting Panola College

Thursday afternoon proved to be a long one for the homestanding Lady Bears as visiting Panola College came to town and left with an 86-53 victory.

Panola College jumped out to an early 8-0 lead. Six points from Kori Ware and a last-second layup from Talana Boyd then had the Lady Bears down 21-12 at the end of the first quarter.

The visitors would continue pulling away in the second quarter as they outscored the Lady Bears 23-10 to take a 44-22 lead at intermission.

Seven points from Mercedes Dorsey helped the Lady Bears play even with Panola College in the third quarter, but the Lady Bears still found themselves down, 60-37, with one quarter remaining.

Panola College's lead continued to grow in the fourth quarter and they would go on to pick up the win.

Dorsey and Ware both scored 12 points to pace the Lady Bears (4-8). They and their teammates went 13-20 at the free throw line.

The Lady Bears return to action on January 12 as they go on the road to face LSU-Eunice. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:00 pm.
