Lady Bears stay unbeaten, top Mobile JV on the road

For just the second time this season, the Lady Bears faced a deficit. However, in the end, it only motivated them to finish strong as they scored three unanswered goals to walk away with a 3-1 road win over Mobile's JV team, Saturday.

"You are always on edge, especially when you are behind, you are always on edge," Southwest head coach Nicole Cooper said. "I think that we were forcing a little too much and not executing the simple things that we are capable of. After we put the first one away, I think that we were confident going into the second half that we can come out on top."

The Lady Bears (4-0) got off to a bit of a slow start as the Rams made the first statement in the 25th minute with a goal.

Southwest continued to fight, looking for the equalizer and the Lady Bears made it happen 10:00 later as Arely Diaz set up Evie Peet who delivered with a goal, tying the match at 1.

Following the half, Southwest made sure the carry the momentum over. In the 72nd minute, Peet delivered again, this time with the assist as she set up Nicole Galvan for a goal giving the Lady Bears their first lead at 2-1.

The goal from Galvan continued her streak of matches with a goal as she has at least one in each of the four matches thus far.

Southwest capped off its scoring in the 80th minute when Ellyana Holman got her first of the season following a pass from Zoey Brown.

The Lady Bears will be back in action on Tuesday as they visit Hinds at 5 p.m. in their final non-conference test of the regular season.
