Box Score There wasn't much going wrong for the Lady Bears in Monday's outing at East Mississippi as they not only stayed undefeated on the season but also had arguably their strongest outing thus far, getting a hat trick from Nicole Galvan in a 7-1 win over the Lions.
"One of our objectives in this game was to keep the intensity high and play to our strengths, and do the things that we are capable of doing," Southwest head coach Nicole Cooper said. "If we are able to do those things, we will come out victorious and that is what we did tonight."
For the first 23:00 of the match, the Lady Bears (6-0-2, 2-0-1 MACCC) worked to find their footing, and in that 23rd minute things began to click for the visitors. A Zoey Brown goal on an Evie Peet assist was quickly followed two minutes later by from Arely Diaz on an assist from Addie Stanford making it a 2-0 game.
Jada Houston made her presence known 12:00 later with a goal on an assist form Adrien Collier before Galvan netted her first score of the night in the 44
th minute on an assist from Ingrid Flores making the score 4-0 at the half.
Even though East Mississippi got a goal in the 54
th minute, the hits kept coming for the Lady Bears. In the 62
nd minute, Peet recorded a goal making the score 5-1.
Galvan capped-off her big night with goals in the 62
nd and 78
th minutes to round-out the scoring on the night.
In addition to Galvan's three goals, Peet also had a strong outing with a goal and two assists for Southwest.
The Lady Bears return home Friday at 5 p.m. to host No. 12 Gulf Coast.
