The season-opening loss to Alcorn State is now a distant memory for the Bear Men's Tennis team as they have won three-consecutive matches since, with the latest coming Tuesday in a 9-0 decision against host Holmes.
"It was really just going in and taking care of business," said Southwest head coach Dean Clower who added that he is proud of how his kids have taken it one match at a time and are not looking ahead.
The No. 1 doubles team of Juan Cifuentes and Manan Kumar won their match 8-1 as did the No. 3 team of Jay Magee and Thomas Simpson. The No. 2 team of Mansur Khajimuradov and Cameron Leon won their match 8-0.
No. 1 singles Khajimuradov carried that momentum over into his singles match, winning 6-0, 6-0. No. 2 singles Kumar won by the same score as did No. 5 singles Magee and No. 6 singles Simpson. No. 3 singles Cifuentes won 6-1, 6-1 while No. 4 singles Leon won 7-5, 7-5.
Southwest welcomes in No. 13 Jones on Friday at 2 p.m. in both men's and women's play.
