Southwest's Scott Varnado inducted into Mississippi Community and Junior College Sports Hall of Fame

Scott Varnado attended Southwest from 1970-72. He was student government Vice President in both of his years at Southwest and was selected into the Student Hall of Fame in 1972.

Scott played basketball and tennis at Southwest.

He had a career field goal percentage of 61% and earned Honorable Mention on the All-State Team as a freshman and earned team MVP and All-State second team as a sophomore.

Scott averaged 11.5 points and 12 rebounds as a freshman followed by averaging 18.5 points and 12.5 rebounds in his sophomore year.

In 1972, Scott and his doubles partner in Southwest Tennis made the State Tournament and finished second in the #2 doubles category.

Scott went on to play basketball and get a degree at Millsaps where he was inducted into the Hall of Fame and received his Chemistry degree.

Scott has been married for 48 years to his college sweetheart, Lindsay Shallcross, and has two sons and five grandchildren.
