Southwest Men's Tennis gets bid to Nationals

Southwest Mississippi Men's Tennis received an invite to the NJCAA DII Men's Tennis Championship hosted in Plano, Texas scheduled for May 11^th-15^th at the Collin College Tennis Facility.

Bear Tennis finished the regular season 10-8 and went 5-4 in conference play.

The boys started out 2-8 and finished the season with an 8-match win streak.

The Bears went into the Region 23 championships as the #5 seed and fell to Northwest in the first round.

Now, the Southwest Men's team heads to Plano just a week after the women's team finishes up nationals in South Carolina.

Sophomores Thomas Simpson, Juan Manuel Riano Cifuentes, and Manan Kumar are the leaders of the team and will look to capitalize on the invite to the National Tournament.

Juan Luca Cividini is a freshman star for the men's team.

Juan Luca is from Rosario, Argentina and went 15-4 in singles in his freshman season, earning him All-MACCC First Team honors.

Freshmen Cole Beard and Taylor Allen make up the final two spots on the men's team.

The Bears are led by Head Coach Dean Clower as well as assistant coaches Robin Clower, Alex Velasquez, and Marcos Coves.
