Lady Bears fall at top-ranked Northwest Florida State

The Lady Bears suffered their first defeat of the young season Monday night in Niceville, Florida, as they fell to the top-ranked Northwest Florida State College Raiders, 74-32.

The Lady Bears fell behind early and were unable to catch up as they found themselves down 17-7 after the first 10:00 of play. Northwest Florida then stretched their lead to 37-15 at the end of the first half.

Unfortunately for the Lady Bears (1-1) things remained the same throughout the second half as the hosts led 55-23 after three quarters on their way to the win.

After the final buzzer, Lady Bears head coach Brent Harris said "The score was no indication of our progress. They (the Raiders) are excellent. We did some good stuff at times.

Kori Ware topped the Lady Bears' offense with 8 points. She and her teammates attempted only four three throws on the night, making three of them.

The Lady Bears take a few days off before returning to the home court on November 17 when they host the Lady Jaguars of Southern University-Shreveport on the first day of the Coca-Cola Classic. Tip off is scheduled for 5:30.
