The 2025-26 basketball season opened on a disappointing note Friday night for the Bears as they fell in the opening round of the Chipola Classic, 111-91, to the Tallahassee State College Eagles in Marianna, Florida.
The Bears fell behind early and found themselves trailing 63-39 at the end of the first 20:00 of play. After tallying only three points in the first half, sophomore Courterius Scott finished with a team-high 30. Robert Flantroy II was also in double figures, with 13 points, while Jaylen Haliburton scored 11 points and Chidi Nwosu ended the night with 10 points.
The Bears made 20 of 25 free throw attempts.
The Bears return to the hardwood Saturday afternoon at 2:00 when they close out the Classic against the host Chipola College Indians.
