Southwest Mississippi Men's Basketball had three players sign with 4-year Universities on Wednesday, May 6th.
Robert Flantroy II signed with William Carey University, Courterius Scott signed with Stephen F. Austin University, and Dawson Knox signed with King University.
Robert Flantroy II spent two seasons with the Bears. Dealing with an injury his freshman year, Robert played in 21 games and averaged 6.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 0.66 assists per game while shooting a 49.4 field goal percentage.
As a sophomore, Robert played in 29 games averaging 20 minutes per game. He averaged 5.7 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 0.9 assists per game shooting 44.3% from the field.
Robert made a tremendous impact for the Bears off the bench in both of his seasons at Southwest.
Next, sophomore Courterius Scott spent one season with the Bears that earned him an All-MACCC First Team selection. In his one season with Southwest, Courterius averaged 18.9 points, 4.2 assists, and 3.7 rebounds per game in 33 games played. Courterius had field goal percentage of 49.1% with 605 points on the season as well as a 41.5% 3PT percentage with 76 three pointers on the season. Courterius' 605 points with the Bears put him over 1000 career points after he spent his freshman season with Co-Lin.
Courterius came in and became an instant leader for the Bears being voted a captain as a newcomer to the school and team. He led the team in many offensive categories and to the #2 seed for the postseason as well as a postseason win.
Finally, sophomore Dawson Knox also spent one season with the Bears. Dawson played in 31 games on the season coming off the bench in a supporting role for the team. Dawson was described as a dominant, physical presence that helped set his teammates up for success. Dawson averaged 2.7 points and 3.6 rebounds again with 18 blocks on the season. He averaged 15 minutes a game and shot 49.2% from the field.
Dawson is a team player who does not mind doing the hard work to set his team up for success.
With these three included, Southwest Men's Basketball has sent over 80 players to the four-year level in the last twelve years.
