Despite entering Friday's road contest at Mississippi Gulf Coast confident, the Bears were unable to get their offense going and had some struggles on defense against the host Bulldogs who walked away with a 4-0 win.
"They (Gulf Coast) are very, very good," Southwest head coach Zach Mills said. "We didn't play our game and if we would have played our game, we would have had our chance."
Unfortunately for the Bears (4-4, 0-2 MACCC) they could not get their offense fully established.
The Bulldogs put the Bears in a 2-0 hole with goals in the 14
th and 19
th minutes, setting the tone early. They added one more with 6:00 to go in the first half putting the Bears down 3-0.
Gulf Coast got its final in the 65
th minute getting one past freshman goalkeeper Carson Lee who got praise from Mills after the match as he recorded six saves in his first regular season action this year.
