Despite playing a strong brand of basketball for most of the contest, the Bears could not hang on in the end, falling 77-61 to the host Coahoma Tigers.
"We just have to be able to finish games on the road, we've struggled with that all year," Southwest head coach Corey Schmidt said. "It is just frustrating, I'm searching for answers. I'm trying to figure out lineups and positions to put them in to get this figured out."
Early on, the Bears (13-11, 4-5 MACCC) had difficulty hitting 3-pointers with the lone make coming fro Deon Brown. Despite this, the Bears pushed on and even though they connected on several field goals in the first 20:00 of play, the free throw shooting was just as important as Southwest made 7-of-9 attempts.
The Bears led 30-24 at the half.
In the second half, the combination of Mark Drone and Tylik Weeks did the majority of the scoring load for Southwest. They combined for 19 of the Bears' 31 second half points.
On the other end of the floor, the Tigers showed their range, knocking down five 3-pointers as they clawed their way back, taking the lead over the Bears late before preserving the win.
Weeks led the Bears with 17 points while Drone posted 13.
Southwest will be back in action on Thursday as East Central comes to Summit for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
