Wulff's hat trick gives Lady Bears 3-1 win over Northwest

A hat trick from freshman Juana Wulff propelled the Lady Bears to a season-opening 3-1 win over visiting Northwest Mississippi Monday afternoon.

At the 26:02 mark, the South American connection between keeper Camila Cevallos (Ecuador) and Wulff (Argentina) led to a 1v1; Wulff chipped the ball over the Northwest keeper and under the crossbar for a 1-0 lead.

The lead was short-lived as Northwest (1-1) scored at 28:37 to tie the match at 1-1; the teams went into intermission with the same score.

At 73:41, Wulff picked up a loose ball on the Northwest end of the field and snuck it in back post to put the Lady Bears back on top, 2-1.

The final goal, at 88:34, came when Haven Jarvis passed the ball to Wulff in space. Wulff then caught the Northwest keeper off her line and finished it far post.

Cevallos finished the game with five saves.

The Lady Bears return to action on April 7 when they travel to Fulton to take on the 18th-ranked Itawamba Lady Indians. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00.
