Unable to hold on to a halftime lead, the Bears went down Thursday night at Jones, 63-48.

The Bears took a 7-2 lead early in the 1st half on a Malik Lamin layup.

With 15:24 still on the clock, a Mazae Blake bucket gave the Bears (7-6) their largest lead of the night, 11-5.

Jones would lead 19-16 with 6:23 remaining in the half before the Bears scored nine of the final 15 points to take a 25-21 lead into the locker room at the end of the half.

Jones (4-4) outscored the Bears 9-2 to open the 2nd half and move out to a 30-27. They then began to slowly pull away and took their biggest lead of the game, 63-46, with 1:17 on the clock and went on to record the 15-point victory.

"We really struggled to score tonight," said Bears head coach Bryan Bender. "We didn't get anything easy (and) had 19 turnovers, were 10-19 from the free throw line and only had two offensive rebounds. (But) other than a two-three minute stretch, we guarded and played a great defensive game."

"Jones plays hard and hats off to them for the win," Bender continued. "We are still banged up with four guys as game time decisions and once we get healthy and get more reps, we will be able to get back to full strength and will be ready for another big game Monday (March 8)."

Blake topped the Bears' offense with 15 points.

Jeff Blackmon II scored 15 points to lead Jones. He and his teammates went 6-8 at the free throw line.

The Bears will travel to Perkinston on March 8 to face the Mississippi Gulf Coast Bulldogs. Tipoff is set for 6:00.
