The Lady Bears suffered a tough setback Monday night at Meridian as they fell to the host Lady Eagles, 64-59, in overtime in MACCC action.

The Lady Bears (7-4, 7-4) led 12-9 at the end of the first quarter behind five points each from Mikayla Etienne and Sydni Tangle.

In the second quarter, Meridian (8-2, 8-2) outscored the Lady Bears 10-4 to take a 19-16 lead into the locker room at intermission.

The game remained close in the third quarter with the Lady Bears outscoring their hosts, 14-12, to trim their deficit to 31-30 with one quarter remaining.

The teams traded baskets throughout the fourth quarter before ending regulation with the game tied at 49-49.

Meridian took the lead late in the extra period and outscored the Lady Bears 15-10 to pick up the win.

Taylor Ben, Mikayla Etienne and Shylia McGee each scored 12 points to lead the Lady Bears' offense.
As a team, the Lady Bears made 10 of 21 free throws.

Meridian's Ariana Hart led all scorers in the game with 14 points. She and her teammates combined to make 12 of 16 free throws.

The Lady Bears are next set to take the court on March 22 when they host Co-Lin. Tipoff is set for 6:00.
