Lady Bears win big at Gulf Coast

The Lady Bears took control of the game in the first quarter and went on to win big over the host Mississippi Gulf Coast Lady Bulldogs, 67-43, Monday night in Perkinston.

The Lady Bears (2-1) led 20-11 after one quarter. Gulf Coast (1-4) then outscored the Lady Bears 17-12 in the second quarter to pull to within 32-28 at the end of the first half.

The second half belonged to the Lady Bears as they outscored their hosts 12-5 in the third quarter and 23-10 in the fourth to pick up the win.

Mikayla Etienne led the Lady Bears, and all scorers, with 19 points in the game; she was 8-8 at the free throw line. Shylia McGee netted 17 points while Sydni Tangle scored 11.

The Lady Bears made 18 of 26 free throws.

Alisha Tucker led Gulf Coast with 12 points. She and her teammates combined to go 9-18 at the free throw line.

The Lady Bears hit the court again on February 11 when they host Meridian Community College. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:00.
