Lady Bears drop South Division contest at Jones

The Lady Bears fell to the host Jones Lady Bobcats Thursday night, 90-64, in MACJC South Division action in Ellisville.
 
After falling behind 7-0 early, the Lady Bears got on the board when Tootie Rankin nailed a three pointer with 7:36 on the first quarter clock to make the score 7-3.
 
Jamaya Galloway netted a pair of free throws with 3:47 on the clock to bring the Lady Bears (8-13, 3-9) to within 12-9, but Jones went on to hold a 24-14 lead at the end of the quarter.
 
Jones (19-2, 11-1) led by as many as 18 points in the second quarter. The Lady Bears cut their deficit to 42-31on an old-fashioned three point play by Galloway with 0:25 left before halftime, but Jones would take a 44-32 lead into the locker room.
 
Trailing 52-36 in the third quarter, the Lady Bears pulled to within 52-41 on baskets from Amari Pittman and Galloway. But, Jones would extend their lead to 66-45 before taking a 68-48 advantage into the final quarter.
 
Jones maintained its comfortable margin throughout the fourth quarter, reaching its final margin of victory on a late bucket.
 
Galloway topped the Lady Bears' offense with 14 points. Rankin and Pittman were also in double figures with 11 and 10 points, respectively. The Lady Bears made 20 of 24 free throws.
 
Kyla Weathersby led Jones with 17 points. She and her teammates combined to go 7-13 at the free throw line.
 
The Lady Bears return home on February 18 to host Pearl River in a 5:30 South Division matchup.
