The Lady Bears pushed the defending state and regional champions Jones County Lady Bobcats to the limit Friday night in Ellisville, but came up just short as they dropped a 1-0 MACJC South Division decision.

Sophomore goalkeeper
Jennifer Solis saved 11 shots on the night for the Lady Bears, but it was not enough as the Lady Bobcats' (7-1-1, 5-0-1) Aimee Durn managed to sneak the ball past Solis' hands with only 2:03 left to account for the only goal of the game.

The Lady Bears (4-6, 1-4) played perhaps their best game of the season, causing head coach Bee Casey to say, "We worked 90 minutes tonight and I couldn't be more proud. It's an emotional loss for us because we were in it for (the entire game). They (just) slipped one by us in the last few minutes."

"We're not going to let this hold us back," Casey continued, "but it definitely shows the (South) Division that we're coming stronger in the second half of Division play."

The Lady Bears return to action on October 10 when they pay a visit to the Lady Bulldogs of Mississippi Gulf Coast. Kickoff of the South Division contest is set for 5:00.
