Behind the 24-point performance of
Mike Parks, Jr., the Bears defeated the visiting University of Mobile Rams JV squad 81-60 Saturday afternoon.

A sophomore center from Cleveland, OH, Parks hit 11 of 13 field goals and went 2-2 from the free throw line as the Bears moved to 3-2 on the season.

The Bears took an early 2-0 lead on a
Rodrick Sikes jumper. The Rams tied the game less than a minute later on a Kamau Thomas-Perry layup. But, with Parks, Jr., scoring six straight points, the Bears went on an 11-0 run to take a 13-2 lead with 14:56 left in the half.

After the Rams pulled to within six points, 21-15, the Bears went on a 14-4 run and took their biggest lead of the half, 35-19, with 4:43 on the clock. The Rams (2-6) then scored seven of the last eight points of the half to leave the Bears on top 38-29 at intermission.

James Hawthorne scored to give the Bears an 11-point lead, 40-29, early in the second half. Back-to-back layups from Caleb Bennett and Malcolm Colzie then pulled the Rams back to within seven, 40-33, with 17:50 remaining.

After three-pointers from
Antonio Cowart, Jr., and Sikes gave the Bears a 17-point edge, 59-42, the Rams scored 15 of the next 23 points to close the gap to 67-57 with 4:11 still to play.

That, however, would be as close as the visitors would get the rest of the way as the Bears went on to close the game on 10-0 run and pull away for the 21-point win.

Sikes scored 22 points for the Bears. Cowart, Jr., and Hawthorne also scored in double figures with 14 and 10 points, respectively. Cowart had five steals while
Guy Johnson had five assists. The Bears hit 11 of 22 free throws.

Thaddeus Parker topped the Rams' offense with 14 points. He and his teammates combined to hit 11 of 18 free throws.

After taking a break for Thanksgiving, the Bears return to the court on November 29 when they host the Spring Hill Badgers JV squad. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:15.
