Bears' win streak comes to an end against visiting Jones County

The Bears' five-game winning streak came to an end Tuesday afternoon as they dropped a tough 3-2 decision to the visiting Jones County Bobcats.
 
The loss dropped the Bears to 9-4 overall and 2-4 in the MACJC South. (they remain in the hunt for their first-ever playoff appearance with four games remaining). The Bobcats moved to 5-5 and 4-2.
 
Francisco Alisiardi gave the Bears a 1-0 lead when he scored at 13:33 of the game off a Jaime Delor shot that was deflected by the Bobcats' keeper.
 
The lead held up until 26:19 of the game when the Bobcats scored on Joseph Todd's goal to tie things at 1-1. Kieran Robins added another goal for the visitors at 33:43 to give them a 2-1 lead at the end of the half.
 
The score went to 3-1 at the 77:58 mark when Todd recorded his second goal of the game.
 
Never giving up, the Bears fought to stay in the game and drew to within 3-2 at 87:17 when Joey Barrick took a pass from Hunter Ford. Seeing the keeper off the line, Barrick then bombed the ball in from 40 yards out.
 
Unfortunately, for the Bears, that proved to be the final goal of the game as the Bobcats held on for the win. Bears' keeper Kade Jenkins had nine saves.
 
"I'm disappointed in my team," said Bears' head coach Zach Mills, "because I think we got ahead of ourselves. We let Jones come in and (we leet) a couple of their players just danced around us. We just gave them goal after goal."
 
"I'm thankful we came back and put one in late to make sure the goal differential came out positive for us (against Jones County), but I'm just upset with (our) style of play today. But, we're going to take this (and) learn from it (and) we're going to pick it up."
 
The Bears return to action on Friday on the road as they take on the Meridian Eagles in a scheduled 7:00 South Division contest.
