Bears, Bobcats finish even at 1-1 after two overtimes

The Southwest Bears and host Jones County Bobcats fought tooth and nail Friday night in Ellisville and, when the dust had settled, ended their MACJC South Division match in a 1-1 double overtime tie.
 
The tie moved the Bears to 6-6-2 on the season and, at 3-3-1, kept them in the thick of the chase for a spot in the upcoming playoffs. Jones County went to 6-4-1 and 4-2-1.
 
Jay Simpson's goal at 12:12 put the Bobcats on top 1-0. The score remained the same until 71:10 of the match when Tristan Garriga crossed the ball in to Tristen Nicholson who then went one-on-one with the Bobcat's keeper before finding the back of the net to tie the match at 1-1.
 
The Bears missed a scoring opportunity as time ran out, sending the match into overtime. With neither team scoring in either 10:00 extra session, the match then ended in a deadlock.
 
The Bears return to action Tuesday when they host the Meridian Eagles at 4:00 in another crucial South Division match.
