Lady Bears softball goes 1-3 in Florida, Alabama

The Southwest softball team went 1-3 on its season-opening road trip to Pensacola State College and Jefferson Davis College over the weekend. The lone win for the Lady Bears, 12-7, came at Jefferson Davis after they had trailed 5-0 in the fifth inning.

Grace Bravata, Harley Myers and Carrie Phillips all had four hits for the Lady Bears while Chelsea Nette had three and Brieanna Harper had two. Nette (triple) and Phillips (double) provided the only extra base hits over the weekend.

Also recording hits were Kristen Gekler, Victoria Jackson, Brittany Jones and Mandie Szigeti.

The Lady Bears are scheduled to play their home-opening doubleheader Wednesday against Mississippi Delta. Game one is set for 3:00.
