Southwest Softball finishes Historic season with three playoff wins

| By:
Southwest Mississippi Softball produced a historic 2026 season with countless records broken.

The Lady Bears achieved the team's first every playoff win in Southwest history on Saturday, May 2nd in the first game of the Region 23 Tournament beating Hinds 8-4.

Following that win the ladies were knocked to the lower bracket where they had to battle LSU-Eunice to stay alive in the tournament. The Lady Bears would go on to beat the Bengals 9-4 for

Southwest Softball's second ever playoff win and 30th win of the season.

That 30th win marked the first time any Southwest Softball team has reached 30 wins in school history.

Staying alive in the postseason, the Lady Bears then had to face the Northwest Rangers that same night, a team who beat them twice in the regular season.

The Southwest bullpen stepped up in the game against Northwest to come away with their 3rd playoff win of the tournament and in Southwest history.

The win over Northwest would also put the team at 31 wins on the season, the most in school history.

The Lady Bear win punched their ticket to a rematch with Co-Lin in the bracket play Championship where Southwest would fall 2-10 to the Wolves ending their season.

The season was a massive success for Southwest and Southwest Softball with countless individual player records broken during the 31-18 season.
