Coca Cola presents check to Bear Baseball ahead of Coke Classic

Southwest Mississippi Baseball accepted a check for $25,000 from Coca Cola before their series against Co-Lin on Wednesday, April 22nd.

Southwest lost game one 6-11 and game two 0-9 against Co-Lin.

Matt Newman started on the mound in game one for the Bears.

Newman pitched 2.1 innings and picked up the loss for Southwest.

Easton Boyte took over for the next 4.0 innings and only allowed 1 earned run.

Camp Segrest came in for relief before Nik Carney took over.

Carney pitched 1.2 innings with 3 strikeouts.

Luke Simmons came in for 0.1 innings to pick up the final out.

The game started out close with the Bears leading 4-2 after two innings.

The first two runs came on a walk and a Cam Bolden fielder's choice to tie the game 2-2.

Tanner Moore singled to score the next run and put the score at 3-2 before Cam Bolden scored on a passed ball to give the Bears a 4-2 lead.

Southwest wouldn't score again until the seventh when Luke Simmons scored on a Tanner Moore ground out.

Down 11-5 going into the bottom of the ninth, the Bears would score one final run on a Justin Domiano ground out before falling 6-11 to Co-Lin.

Tanner Moore led the team with 3 hits and 2 RBIs.

Justin Domiano, Robbie Hokamp, Jonathan Miller, Luke Simmons, and Cam Bolden each had 1 hit.

Cam Bolden, Jonathan Miller, and Justin Domiano had 1 RBI each.

Cam Bolden and Luke Simmons both had a double in the contest.

Tanner Moore stole 2 bases in game one.

Game two was a one-sided affair that saw Southwest lose 0-9.

Rhyson Carroway started on the bump for the Bears in game two.

Carroway pitched 3.2 innings with 3 strikeouts.

Nathan Carter, Tate Miller, Talen Boyd, and Andrew Hoff all saw time on the mound and combined for 2 strikeouts.

Tee Robinson pitched the final inning with 1 strikeout.

Justin Domiano singled in the bottom of the sixth to pick up the Bears first hit of the game.

Jonathan Miller tripled in the seventh for the Bears second and final hit of the game.

Justin Domiano also stole a base in game two.

The Bears (27-21, 11-13*conference) will travel to Booneville on Saturday, April 25th to take on Northeast.
