Riding the momentum built from Thursday's 5-0 win against Calhoun in Birmingham, AL, the Bears followed that up with another shutout in the same city, this time over Oxford of Emory and by a score of 3-0.
After the match, Southwest head coach Zach Mills reflected on not only his squad picking up their second-straight win but also in shutout fashion.
"We've been happy with our defensive performance," Mills said. "It's been huge to kind of meet some goals that we created for ourselves. Our guys did well to keep a clean sheet for both games."
The Bears (2-2) wasted little time in setting the tone against the Eagles. In just the sixth minute, Southwest took a 1-0 lead after Ilan Marin set up Max Ruelke with a pass for a goal.
That score stayed true for the remainder of the first half as the Bears continued to play a strong brand of defense.
Marin shined once again in the 60
th minute with a goal of his own with the assist credited to Tyler Daramy, making the score 2-0.
The final goal of the match came 20:00 later when Brian Sanchez sent one past the Eagle goalkeeper following a pass from Tyler Walsh.
Cohen Bonner went the distance for the Bears in goal, tallying four saves.
Southwest returns home Saturday at 7 p.m. hosting Georgia Military.
